Donovan has been a real estate investor for over 10 years. In 2002, while employed as an investigator for the U.S. Department of Transportation, Donovan invested in his first property (his home!), a property that had fallen into disrepair. Despite the risk, Donovan identified the neighborhood as one that was primed for growth, and purchased the property. Still living with a high school buddy at the time, Donovan worked full-time during the days, and performed renovations on the property in the evenings and on weekends. After 4 months of work, and $30,000 of improvements, Donovan had turned his diamond in the rough into a sparkling gem.
Donovan has since consulted on dozens of renovation, development, multi-unit apartment buildings, and lease-option projects. Between 2006 and 2008, Donovan managed approximately 25 rental units between Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD. Prior to his involvement in real estate, Donovan was an engineer with General Motors and an investigator with the U.S. Department of Transportation. Donovan has both a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering, and a Masters of Science in Management from Syracuse University.
Amongst his peers, Donovan is known and respected for his ability to identify solid real estate opportunities, as well as his project management ability, knowledge surrounding home renovations, and general real estate investment savvy. Donovan resides in Washington, DC, and believes strongly in giving back to his community. Donovan has coached, mentored, tutored, and provided jobs to the youth in his community.
